This year, The Daily Fandom and affiliate YouTube gaming channel Rogues & Roleplayers are sponsoring Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Ludum Dare Game Jam competition!
From April 15 to 17th, game creators will either team up or strike out on their own in creating a playable game from start to finish in just three days. Ludum Dare, the largest game development event of its kind in the world, has been active for more than 12 years, holding events in April, August and December since 2002.
The Kingwood, Texas campus of the Lone Star College System is home to a popular Game Design & Simulation Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program led by professor Caroline Chamness. The program sports both TDF writer and YouTuber T.C. Robson and Rogue & Roleplayer Addison “Nosidda” Wiegand as alumni.
“My fellow Rogues and I are very proud to be involved in the Ludum Dare. It’s so fun to be at the grassroots of tomorrow’s biggest game development!” said Wade “The Wadeling” Wright, programming student of the college and one-third of Rogues & Roleplayers. The Houston-based channel, bearing over 100 subscribers at press time, focuses on bringing back the experience of “couch-based” gaming, with comedic discussions and antics amidst gameplay of modern and classic video games.
The Daily Fandom and Rogues & Roleplayers will be covering the event for a project to be announced at a later date. For more information on the event, contact Caroline at Caroline.M.Chamness@lonestar.edu. To find out more about Ludum Dare, visit http://ludumdare.com.
