From Friday, October 27th to Sunday, October 29th, Paris will be hosting one of its most iconic pop culture festivals: Paris Comic Con. With numerous artists, comics, and entertainment guests, the event is set to be even bigger than last year! Here is what you can expect next weekend if you are in Paris.
Comics artists such as Brian Michael Bendis (Jessica Jones), Don Rosa (Picsou), Neil Edwards (Doctor Who), Tim Sale (Batman) or Rebekah Isaacs (Buffy) will be here all three days.
The Entertainment at Paris Comic Con
On the entertainment side, brace yourselves, for Finn Jones (Iron Fist, Game of Thrones) will have both hands available for autographs! Austin Nichols (The Walking Dead), Julie Benz (Buffy), Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) and Poppy Drayton (Shannara Chronicles), amongst many others, will also be there.
Harry Potter fans will not be disappointed, with the presence of Hugh Mitchell (Colin Creevey), Josh Herdman (Gregory Goyle) and Stanislav Ianevski (Viktor Krum, which we all remember from the iconic Ball Scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).
The program of the weekend is filled with workshops, panels and masterclasses ranging in topics from the Marvel/DC War, Game of Thrones and Batman to costume design and Comics editors in France. Wherever your interest lies, you can bet there will be something for you there!
This year again, Paris Comic Con will be offering premieres and projections. On Friday, you will be able to see the first two episodes of Strangers Things Season 2 (!) while Saturday goers will not be let down, with the premiere of Halloween horror movie Happy Birthdead.
Regarding animations, the event will feature an escape game, old consoles in free access, a photocall, and a 3D immersive experience. The 501st French Garrison will be present and initiations to lightsaber fights will be offered by the Sports Saber League.
Finally, a con wouldn’t be a con without cosplay. This year again, Paris Comic Con will be hosting the French Championships of Cosplay, which winner will be representing France at the C2E2 (Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo) in April 2018. The novelty of this edition is the presence of a Cosplay Zone that, at the Daily Fandom, we hope we will be exploring to show you the best cosplayers of this French Comic Con!
So, what is there to hope for this Paris Comic Con?
First, a bigger space. All reports from last year highlight the scarcity of space and how crowded the event was. Let’s hope, for the participants’ sake and safety, that more space has been planned this year.
Secondly, at The Daily Fandom redaction, we all hope to be able to cover the festival. While last year, we let our imagination get wild about what happened at Paris Comic Con, we do hope to give you next week a fair account of the convention. Fingers crossed!
