One of the best parts of 2018 was obviously when NBC saved everyone’s favourite show on television, Brooklyn Nine-Nine! While it is great that we still get new episodes every week, waiting for them can be hard. So here are ten comedies you are sure to love if you love Brooklyn Nine-Nine as much as we do!

1. The Office

If you were looking for a sign to finally watch The Office (or rewatch it), this is it!

What it’s about: A classic workplace comedy, The Office tells the story of the employees of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, PA.

2. The Good Place

What it’s about: The Good Place is easily one of the best comedies on network television right now. Starring Kristen Bell as Eleanor, it takes a look at what happens to us when we die. The show follows Eleanor as she navigates the afterlife after ending up in a place she doesn’t belong.

Why you’ll love it: Created by Michael Schur, who also created Brooklyn Nine-Nine, this show is sure to leave you laughing while also giving you all the feels and making you rethink your entire existence. There are about a million reasons you should watch The Good Place, but here are five of the main ones if you’re still not sure.

3. Parks and Recreation

What it’s about: LESLIE KNOPE. It’s also about the Parks and Recreation department in Pawnee, Indiana and the quirky, but hilarious, people that work there. But mostly it’s about Leslie Knope.

Why you’ll love it: Another series by Michael Schur, co-created with Greg Daniels, the creator of The Office, this show is an absolute gem. With the same unique sense of humour that makes Brooklyn Nine-Nine so special, Parks and Recreation also has a lot of heart. And with an all-star cast including Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, this series will make you both laugh and cry. *Season one isn’t the best but everything after it is amazing!

4. The Mindy Project

What it’s about: If Jake Peralta was a woman, a doctor, Indian, and lived in Manhattan, he would be Mindy Lahiri, the protagonist of The Mindy Project. This show tells Mindy’s story as she lives and works in Manhattan as an ob/gyn. She’s also a partner in her own practice filled with some unique characters.

Why you’ll love it: Mindy is as quirky as Jake with an equally funny group of coworkers to keep you laughing throughout this series. Like Michael Schur, Mindy Kaling started as a writer on The Office and the similarities in their storytelling and jokes are evident.

5. Angie Tribeca

What it’s about: Starring Rashida Jones and created by Steve and Nancy Carell, this procedural focuses on LAPD detective, Angie Tribeca, who works in the RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). She’s thrown for a loop when she’s assigned a new partner after 10 years in the unit.

Why you’ll love it: If you love laughing along to the case of the week on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Angie Tribeca offers you the perfect cure for your Nine-Nine withdrawal with great one-liners and jokes.

Where you can watch it: Season four just premiered at the end of 2018 on TBS in the United States. It’s also currently streaming on CraveTV in Canada.

6. Schitt’s Creek

What it’s about: After losing their fortune, the Rose family is left with nothing but the deed to the small town of Schitt’s Creek. With nowhere else to go, the Roses must adapt to the small town life. One that’s a far cry from their previously glamorous one.

Why you’ll love it: Few shows are as smart and witty as Schitt’s Creek. Created by, and starring, Dan and Eugene Levy, the show has a unique tone and will keep you waiting for more with its great story and characters.

7. Superstore

What it’s about: Another workplace comedy by NBC, Superstore tells the story of the employees of the fictional discount store, Cloud Nine! If you’ve ever worked in the service industry this is a must watch!

Why you’ll love it: Like the Nine-Nine, this crew is filled with pranks, jokes, and a few romances that will keep you on the hook.

8. One Day At A Time

What it’s about: A single mother, nurse, and war veteran must raise her two teenage children with the help of her widowed mother and obnoxious landlord in LA. A modern adaptation of the 1975 series of the same name by Norman Lear.

Why you’ll love it: If you love the diversity of Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s cast as well as the way it remains funny while never shying away from discussing important social topics like LGBTQ rights, racism, and sexism, you will love One Day At A Time. It also guest stars Melissa Fumero and Stephanie Beatriz in the season three premiere.

9. Party Down

What it’s about: Set in LA, Party Down tells the story of a group of aspiring actors and writers who pay their bills by working at a catering company. With a group of people as creative and passionate as this one, hijinks ensue each week as they work glamorous event.

Why you’ll love it: Another workplace comedy that is both smart about highlighting the difficulties of the job while keeping you laughing.

10. Veep

What it’s about: Selina Meyer is the Vice-President of the United States and it is her goal to be the next President. The only issue is the people working for her. And maybe her… a little bit.

Why you’ll love it: With seventeen Emmys, Veep is one of the most critically-acclaimed comedies on television right now. And all those awards are for good reason. The acting is phenomenal and the writing is as smart as it gets. This show is a must-watch!

What it’s about: Four friends from high school realize it may be time to grow up after graduating 10 years earlier.

Why you’ll love it: Created by Jimmy Tatro, this web series is filled with hilarious one-liners that you’ll be quoting for months.
