Crunchyroll Expo is back on this Labor Day Weekend from August 30th to September 1st. The world’s most popular anime brand is having its third annual Expo in San Jose. This year’s Expo features a huge list of panels, premieres, guests, performances, and so much more. Fans have been invited, this year, to take a trip and explore Crunchyroll’s New Crunchy City. This is going to be an interactive take on a convention that will transport attendees to a place where anime and Japanese pop culture come to life. Sounds awesome, right? We can’t wait for the exciting expectations!

The Media Opportunities:
7 AM – 9 AM on 8/30 – 9/1 – Live shots before the convention floor opens to the public.
9 AM – 10 AM on 8/30 – 9/1 – Fans in cosplay lining up to enter the SJCC.
Throughout the weekend – Interview opportunities available for Mary Franklin, head of events, Crunchyroll, alongside shots of engaged, colorful crowds at panels and on the expo floor.
What Can You Expect?
This year we, as fans, can expect Junji Ito’s first-ever U.S. convention appearance. A streetwear line featuring artwork by the famous horror artist and a gallery of his creations will be featured at the Expo as well. The guest aspect will include voice actors from The Rising of the Shield Hero, Mob Psycho 100, Zombie Land Saga, and Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma.
There are going to be so many more guests to appear from 22/7 (nanabun no nijyuuni), Miho Okasaki (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) and Ryo Horikawa (Dragon Ball Z). Amongst those fantastic appearances full of guests, CRX will feature U.S. premieres such as BLACKFOX, Mob Psycho 100 II, and Somali and the Forest Spirit, amongst many more on the roster.
As we mentioned, screeners will take place over the weekend of the convention. They have a double feature planned to be presented by Toei Animation Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku and Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. Musical guests will include FLOW, MADKID, and TeddyLoid. The gaming demo portion includes playable previews of Mob Psycho 100: Psychic Battle and Attack on Titan TACTICS. Fans can likewise experience the newest RWBY: Crystal Match and Grand Summoners gameplay, plus one major IP collaboration to be announced soon.
A list of panels taking place over the weekend will include the Zombie Land Saga conversation with MAPPA creators and voice actors, a demonstration with character designer Terumi Nishii, and a conversation with horror artist Junji Ito on anime’s best cats. The New Crunchy City is an interactive metropolis that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of anime through experiences including a Crunchyroll-Hime Cafe, Artist Alley Festival, and the New Crunchy CityNightclub.
A Fun Labor Day Weekend At CRX
Crunchyroll will also hold a series of focus groups over the course of the weekend. Interested fans can visit CRX Focus Groups to enter for a potential slot to share their thoughts. Additional guests and events are to be announced on a rolling basis.
