Gaby Dunn is releasing her first graphic novel, BURY THE LEDE, under BOOM! comics this October 2019. Dunn (she/her) will be writing the novel, Claire Roe is the artist, and Miquel Muerto will be doing the colors. The graphic novel is inspired by Dunn’s own personal experiences as a reporter at The Boston Globe. BURY THE LEDE is a thrilling mystery about a reporter’s search for the truth, which ultimately leads her down a dark path as she goes head-to-head with a potential killer.
Cub reporter Madison Jackson is young and starved to prove that she deserves the college internship she currently possesses at the newspaper in town, The Boston Lede. While in this internship, she dreams of making a career-altering headline. Madison Jackson’s police scanner mentions a brutal murder tied to a Boston family, so what does Madison do?
She races to the crime scene and looks for the scoop of the century. Instead, what she finds is a woman who will change her life forever: Dahlia Kennedy. Kennedy is a celebrity socialite covered in blood at the crime scene and is the prime suspect in the murder of her husband and child. However, Kennedy only wants to speak to Madison and no one else.
Everything is resting upon Madison’s shoulders. As the show goes on, Madison seeks deeper into dark secrets and twisted landscapes of the city’s hidden circles of crime, corruption, and privilege in order to discover the truth that no one else can.
