The series follows a small band of friends from a wizard guild, through which they take on job requests for the community around them. This anime follows Izuka Midoriya, a boy who was born without superpowers, known as “quirks.” In his world, quirks are the norm and he is viewed as weak and has no potential because he doesn’t possess a quirk.

However, this isn’t stopping Midoriya from trying to become the greatest hero ever, just like his idol, All Might, the top superhero. One day, Midoriya finally meets All Might and in an unexpected turn of events, he passes some of his quirk onto Midoriya, who then becomes his protege. Midoriya has to learn how to use his newly discovered quirk. He also has to survive as more secrets unfold throughout the series and he trains to become the greatest hero ever. This anime series is available on Hulu.

4. Attack On Titan

If you are looking for something a bit darker – don’t worry, we have you covered. Attack on Titan takes place in a city that defends itself constantly from giant humanoid creatures knows as “Titans.” The anime series more closely focuses on Eren Jaeger, a young, new member of the military who was motivated to join the military after he lost his mother to a Titan.

This causes Eren to take a vow to eliminate all the Titans on Earth in order to avenge his mother. Attack on Titan has wonderful artistry with a great eye for detail, especially when it comes to architectural and landscape illustration. You can watch this anime series on Netflix and Hulu.

5. The Anime Series: Death Note

All of the anime series listed above have a lot of action. Maybe you’re looking for an anime series that is not quite so action-packed, but rather more along the lines of the suspense and mystery genres. In that case, you should watch Death Note. A god of death drops a notebook that has special powers on Earth just to see what would happen.

The notebook is capable of killing a person when their name is written in it. The person who stumbles upon the notebook is a bright high school student named Light Yagami. He sees this as an opportunity to get rid of those who are evil in the world. However, in doing this, he attracts the attention of many around him, including the international police.
