At this rate, everybody will eventually appear on Doctor Who.
The BBC sci-fi has added two more names to its already extensive series 9 cast roster — returning actor Joivan Wade (Rigsy in series 8 episode “Flatline”) and former Peter Capaldi co-star Rebecca Front. The actors join the previously announced newcomers Maisie Williams, Rufus Hound & David Schofield and returnees Michelle Gomez (Missy/The Master), Jemma Redgrave (Kate Lethbridge Stewart), & Ingrid Oliver (Osgood).
Wade will assume his previous Who role in the Justin Molotnikov-directed tenth episode. Though the episode’s title and plot remain unreleased, its writer Sarah Dollard (Being Human) spoke to BBC about her involvement with the popular show. “Getting to play in the Doctor Who toy box is a dream come true. It’s a total honour to contribute to a show that has brought me such joy as a fan,” she remarked. (Check out the clip below to hear more from Sarah on writing for the show.)
Meanwhile, joining the seemingly deceased Osgood will be actress Rebecca Front in her first appearance on the show. Front, however, will be reunited with a few familiar faces: that of The Thick of It co-star Peter Capaldi (much like actor Chris Addison was in his several appearances throughout series 8), and Jenna Coleman, to whom she played mother in BBC’s Death Comes to Pemberley.
Doctor Who will air its ninth series on BBC and BBC America this fall.
