The Guild: Definitely the most popular and geekiest web series out there. Created by Felicia Day, The Guild is a paradise for gamers and geeks alike as it’s full of pop culture references!
In A Nutshell
The show revolves around the lives of six gamers and their online guild in MMORPG videogame “The Game” (which is based on World of Warcraft). The story focuses on Codex and her relationship with the guild as they are all much more focused on the game than in real life.
Meet the Characters
Codex is the Priest of the guild. She is shy, awkward and has trouble functioning in social situations. She used to go to a therapist but she dropped her because of her gaming addiction. Over the episodes, Codex slowly tries to get the crew together and somehow ends up forming her own group of friends.
Zaboo is the Warlock. He starts the series having a huge crush (or obsession) on Codex and being a creep around her. He describes himself as a “HinJe” as he has a Hindu mother and a Jewish father. He has great computer skills. When talking, Zaboo usually adds a “-d” to his expressions (“testosterone’d”).
Vork is a warrior and the guild’s leader. He is the oldest of the group and lives alone (and illegally). He is obsessed with administrating the budget of the guild and is always cutting unnecessary costs of his life for the guild. He claims to know all languages and is seen speaking Korean and Hindi.
Bladezz is the youngest and he is a high school student. He spends most of his time in his mom’s garage playing the Game. He is rude to the other male guild members while hitting on the females and making uncomfortable sexual comments. He is the most troublesome member of the crew, often getting mad at them or causing trouble.
Clara is a wife and a mother of very young children. However, she is very irresponsible as she stays most of the time in front of her computer and pays little attention to her family. She is quite eccentric but often has advice for the rest of the crew, acting as a mother figure for them.
Tink is portrayed as cold and blunt. She tries to keep her personal life away from the guild as much as possible. She is only focused on gaming and doesn’t enjoy involving in other conversations. She is also seen as the most social of the group, often manipulating men for her interests.

Why It’s Awesome
The Guild is one of those series that is so easy to binge-watch. Ever since the first episode I found myself wanting to know more about Codex and her struggles in life.
These are characters who are super obsessed with a videogame. But their lives doesn’t just revolve around The Game, but also around The Guild. Even though they don’t like to admit their friendship, it’s easy to see that they actually care a lot about each other and about the group that they have created. The characters and their conversations are very addicting and it’s incredibly fun to see a group of people who are so devoted to a videogame while trying to cope with social situations. If you are a geek, you’ll surely feel identify with many of these situations.
The show is also full of funny scenes and popular references, the majority of them related to gaming and games like World of Warcraft. I mean, there’s an entire season based on Comic-Con! And there’s also Wil Wheaton. And Felicia Day. Seriously, how many more reasons do you need to watch this series asap?
