Fanboys and fangirls of the world, the web series about your lives is finally here!
i can’t even. is the debut by twin sisters, Victorian College of the Arts graduates and co-creators Hayley and Alyce Adams. The story follows self-proclaimed pop culture nerds, Em (Louise Cox) and Lex (Tiana Hogben) living the fangirl life and following their favourite cult fandoms. The web series will focus on “pop culture, fangirls and friendship” and episodes will be featuring fandoms such as Harry Potter, Star Wars and The Hunger Games. You can expect the two fangirls arguing over “the Star Wars prequels vs. sequels or taking jabs at one’s secret love for Twilight“.
Creators reveal that the web series was inspired by other popular web series such as The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Chris & Josh. Writer and co-creator Alyce Adams confesses that the idea for i can’t even. came from “spending too much time on Tumblr and not enough on her degree”. Adams adds: “They say to write what you know, and making bad sexual puns about Peeta from The Hunger Games is literally something that has happened to us. The life of a nerd can furnish some crazy stories, and all we did was heighten some of the situations”.
This Australian sketch comedy will feature six episodes, all of them to be released simultaneously on their YouTube channel on August 3rd 2015. Each episode will span from three to six minutes long and will be “a humorous take on the duo’s everyday life, guided by their fangirl tendencies focussing on a particular book, TV show, film or character”.
