After having done several recaps of the best things that 2015 brought us, it’s now time to look at the present-future. There are many wonderful things being released in 2016 in the form of TV shows, anime and movies. Here are the ones that have us the most hyped!

TV SHOWS

the x-files - the daily fandom
IT’S HAPPENING: The X-Files will be back on January 24th on FOX! Sadly, the revival is only going to be 6 episodes, although a Season 2 is likely if it does well. The X-Files is not only a TV classic but it’s also one of those shows that contributed a lot to fandom. Mulder and Scully are known as the first ship on the Internet!

Another show that has been highly anticipated is DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which will be airing on January 21st on the CW. We expect that this will lead to many more crossovers for the network. Also, remember that Season 3 of The 100 will be airing on that same day!

Other TV shows that you should check out this year include ABCF’s Shadowhunters (January 12th), WGN America’s Outsiders (January 26th), FX’s American Crime Story (February 2nd), Syfy’s Hunters (April) and AMC’s Preacher (date TBA).

ANIME

Look, it has been said that 2016 will be the year of anime and it is true, but there is one thing everyone has been waiting for for ages: the second season of Attack on Titan. Believe it or not, it’s finally happening! There’s not a release date yet, nor a trailer, but we do know that it’ll be by the same studio (Wit Studio) and that it’ll probably be around 25 episodes long.

Other awesome adaptations to look out for include Bones’ My Hero Academia (April), the return of Berserk (date TBA) and a new anime of D.Gray-Man (date TBA). Oh, and don’t forget about One Piece: Film Gold in July! Check out our Winter Anime Season preview.

MOVIES

So many highly anticipated movies coming out this year, I don’t even know where to begin.

When it comes to superheros, MARVEL is delivering once again with the releases of Deadpool (February 12th), Captain America: Civil War (May 6th) and X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27th). DC isn’t staying behind, though: there’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25th) and Suicide Squad (August 5th).

Fans of sci-fi will also be happy to know that we’ve got the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (December 16th) and Star Trek Beyond (July 22nd).

As per animation, we have the return of everyone’s favourite panda with Kung Fu Panda 3 (January 29th), Finding Dory (June 17th) and Ice Age: Collision Course.

Also, don’t forget about Zoolander 2 (February 12th), The Divergent Series: Allegiant (March 18th), The Jungle Book (April 15th) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (June 5th), the all-female Ghostbusters III (July 15th), Doctor Strange (November 4th), the return of the Harry Potter verse with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 18th), Assassin’s Creed (December 21st)… AND SO MANY MORE!!
