A few days ago, it was announced that there would be an important announcement regarding the series on December 14th. It’s safe to say that many people already guessed that the announcement would be a second anime season as Food Wars (Shokugei no Soma in Japanese) has been one of the most successful releases in the anime industry this year. Having sold more than 1,5 millions of copies, Yūto Tsukuda’s manga was also number three in the Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2014.

The second season announcement commemorates the third anniversary of manga launch. The second issue will also be revealing that the special anime event about the Aldini brothers will get a DVD release with special editions of the manga’s 18th volume on May 2nd.

A promotional video has begun streaming on the series’ website:

The first season of Food Wars aired from April 4th to September 26th and consisted of 24 episodes. More details on the second season of Food Wars will soon be revealed by the Weekly Shounen Jump.
